Artist Interviews

My name is Amy Black. I'm the one on the left.

I began painting two years ago kind of out of the blue. I had thought about it for a while and decided to go for it. I have been ever since. I love the ocean and water in general. I deal with non-epileptic seizures, depression, a brain tumor, and now possibly a spinal fluid leak with debilitating headaches. Painting is my mode for dealing with it all. I generally paint in acrylics. I haven't entered any contests but I did donate some artwork a year ago for a fundraiser and a couple were sold. I am also just getting into art shows.  My advice to new artist is: not to compare yourself to other artist, watch Youtube videos, just do it.  Dont worry about specifics, just paint.

My name is LouAnn Ordile, also known as Paintin'Weezie. I was born in Philadelphia but I have lived in NJ (still in the Philly area) for most of my life, currently we live in Bellmawr, NJ. I've been married to the same wonderful man for thirty-two years and I have two beautiful daughters.
Tell Me About your Painting. The first thing I painted was at age fourteen when I painted The Rolling Stones logo on my bedroom wall behind the door where I didn't think my Mom would see it. She did, but surprisingly she was cool with it.
Since then I have pursued different types painting including airbrushing, watercolor and pastels. But my true love is painting with a brush using acrylics. I am not a classically trained artist but rather primarily self taught. However, YouTube has proven to be an invaluable tool. I spend as much time as I can watching other artists and picking up new and different techniques, tips and skills.
What inspires your work? That's harder to answer than you'd think. I assume that it stems from truly believing in myself. For instance, when someone wanting something asks me if I can make it, I always answer sure, even though I never have and am a tad apprehensive. That is what really makes my creative juices flow. I love a challenge and haven't turned any down.
Any Awards? Well I have never entered any traditional art contests or shows. However, we do a rather unique Christmas display. My husband and I make everything. The designs are cut, life size, out of wood, I paint them, paying very close attention to detail, he then motorizes them and they are displayed in vignettes that are strategically placed around our yard. For this we have won many awards over the past thirty years.
Any Upcoming events? Just Christmas!

Hello!  I'm Victoria Meneses

Hello Tracy, thank you for having me in mind for your project.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am happily married and a mother of 2 boys plus Jackie our dog. I reside in Sebastian Florida near Vero Beach Florida for about 11 years. I started painting on and off 10 years ago during summer after my divorce. I have no idea on how to paint so I kind of learn on my own. About like 3 years ago or 2 years ago someone told me to look on youtube for videos on how to paint with acrylics and I used to just watch the videos but not painting much. Then 0ne day I found Cinnamon Cooney aka the Art Sherpa and I watched a few videos here and there and I liked her personality as well as her paintings. Since then I have done quite a few of her paintings and I really like them to the  point that about 2 or 3 months ago I became a member of her labs to be able to teach others how to paint her beautiful pantings. Back in May of this year I started a paint party business called Painting Made Fun and it has been nothing but fun!
What really inspires me to paint is the beauty of colors and nature.
Painting made fun offers acrylic paint classes / parties in the comfort of client’s home. I provide all supplies for a low fee of $25 or $35 per person (adults) $15 for kids.
I remember when I was around 11 years old I participated in a drawing painting contest in my country of Origen and I was one of the 10 winners ( I got my first communion dress as a price)
I painted my city Santiago De Cali, Colombia with a very interesting media:black polish for shoes, can you believe that? Obviously it was a painting go my city at night.
No other awards as an adult in that area per say.
I dont do much of paintings or paint parties due to the fact that I have a full time job and a family.
Next event will take place in October for a bridal shower and we will be painting one of my originals. I am really excited about that.

Hello!  I'm Stacy Cobb

I work a day job to pay my bills.  I am a travel surgical nurse and I live primarily out of a suitcase.  This adds a layer of juggling to my artwork.  So I don't devote a lot of time to promoting my artwork because I just don't have a lot of time right now.

I have always been artistically inclined.  I have always drawn, painted, scribbled or crafted in some fashion.  But with the advent of adulthood, family, mortgage payments and working art work took a back seat.  I recently returned to painting about a year ago after attending a Paint Nite event in the Seattle area.  After the New Year 2017 I felt driven to paint.

I had a showing in Enumclaw, Washington in June which went fairly well when I considered that there was only word of mouth advertising and graduation competition!  I had 9 people show and sold 3 pieces.  I also recieved 4 commissions as a result of the show!

I like things that inspire the viewer's imagination.  Like where does that road lead?  Or I wonder what that was like when it was new?  I like immpressionistic works, and I think I tend to paint in that style. I also like to work in colored pencils, especially when depicting animals.

As far as awards,  At age 16, I won a "Best of Show" in 1980 at the Adams County Fair for a pencil drawing of musician, Walter Murphy.  (The following year my younger brother won the same prize for a pencil drawing of a Suzuki 125 motocross dirt bike).

As for events?  I am a member of the Pend Oreille Arts Council and I hope to show in at least two events in the 2018 season.  These would be local to my home in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Perhaps to have another showing in Enumclaw.  Much depends on my work schedule at present. Check out my page on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/pg/ StacyCobbArt/
Hello!  I'm Tracy Kauffman

I am the Blog owner.  Right now I work as a care manager for Humana during the day as a nurse.  I try to paint every spare moment I get. I haven't taken any art classes, just self taught.  I am a new artist, so haven't won any awards.

What do I create?   I paint landscapes, absract paintings and still-lifes.  Some say my painting represent folk art.  Not sure about that but check out my work at: https://artistdesign.yolasite.com/

Why Do I enjoy painting?  I enjoy creating!  Anything creative interest me.  I love to escape in my painting, it relaxes me.  I have written poetry, books and now artwork.  I guess you can say I am a Jack of All Trades.
